Warning! This article contains biased language. It’s not vague or politically correct. Proceed at your on risk. Freedom is the process of True Liberty, Jesus, having His way with my soul; my mind, emotions and will. Freedom, then, is not doing what one simply desires. Freedom is the true expression of Love in my soul and body. For example, I am free to serve others, but I am not free to sin. Committing sin is not an expression of freedom. It is an expression of how limited I am in my humanness. God allows us to make choices even if they are wrong for us because He takes no prisoners to act against their desires.
The Truth, who is Jesus, shall set you free. This is done only inside a relationship with Him. It is impossible to receive truth without receiving Truth. According to John 15:26, Truth is God’s Spirit; and only Jesus can liberate my soul bound by past loyalties as I yield to Him. The human apart from God is powerless against the ruling disposition in himself. – 2 Cor. 3:17, John 8:32
There is no power in the human soul itself greater than the nature created in it as a result of yielding. I am the servant of the one I obey. If I am a slave to myself, I am responsible for the bondage, because at some point I yielded to myself. Yield to some fleshly habit in childhood, and it becomes a dominating tyranny in the adult. (Luke 14:26) True discipleship to Jesus means yielding to Him. This and only this results in freedom from such tyranny. Only He can set my heart free of the many forms of bondage imposed on it.
Freedom can never be forced! Freedom in my heart is the result of Liberty’s presence and dominion. Liberty restores me to a realization that I am loved. Liberty’s Freedom is a life free of the limitations that are imposed on the heart (mind) while living in God’s intended purpose for me. It’s a life that’s lived free from self-realization and completely identified with her Emancipator.
Every phase of my actual life has its counterpart in the Life of Christ.
It is no longer I that live, but Christ that lives in me.
It is no longer I who am going through circumstances. It is Christ in me going through them. I am no longer a victim, a survivor whose life is taken up with rights.
My life is Christ in me, the hope of glory! I am more than a conqueror. I am the head and not the tail. I am taken up with a new identification.
My nature has been made new. I am new; in fact, I am recreated in Christ when He was quickened in hell. His body was in the grave, but his soul was in hell. – Ephesians 2:10
The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is my resurrection and recreation. This identity is not the result of more learning but yielding to the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead. – Romans 6:5
Such oneness in my experience does not come from study, but from Christ revealed to me. Without experiencing the Holy Spirit personally, there is no revelation, because the Holy Spirit is the experiential life of Christ in me.
There is no lack of faith here. There is no striving for victory but laying my life down along with its agendas and schemes for survival and control. However true, faith must prove itself by the inward concession of my dearest objects, and in this way be purified from all traditional and fanatical ideas along with all their misconceptions.
